Swimming pool heat exchanger

A pool heat exchanger for heating pool water is the ideal solution if you own a heat pump. It has the advantage of low energy consumption and a long service life.

If you want to bathe in warm water even outside the summer season, a pool heat exchanger is the ideal solution for you. It is a device that is used to heat the water in the pool. It is designed to maintain a comfortable water temperature throughout the bathing season, even in adverse weather conditions. This technological feature is increasingly popular and tends to be an integral part of modern swimming pools.

How a pool heat exchanger works

The main purpose of a pool heat exchanger is to heat the pool water using heat from another source. A pool heat exchanger works on the principle of heat transfer between two separate circuits. The first is the pool water circuit that circulates through the heat exchanger. The second circuit is most often hot water from a heat pump, solar system, gas boiler or electric heater.

Simply put, hot water, for example from a heat pump, passes through the inside of the heat exchanger and transfers heat to the cooler pool water to heat it.

Choosing a pool heat exchanger

When choosing a pool heat exchanger, it is not so much the size of the pool that is important, but rather the performance of the heat exchanger itself, the temperature of the medium (water from the heat pump) and the desired temperature of the pool water. The higher the capacity of the heat exchanger, the faster the pool water will heat up.

Maintenance of the pool heat exchanger

Modern exchangers are designed to resist corrosion. However, it is important to clean the filters regularly and maintain the correct level of pool chemistry to minimise the risk of sedimentation and corrosion.

Benefits of a pool heat exchanger

  • Efficient use of heat from an existing source
  • low energy consumption
  • low operating costs
  • long service life
  • low maintenance

If you want a heated swimming pool and have a gas or electric boiler, solar collectors or a domestic heat pump, a pool heat exchanger is the ideal choice for you. Simply connect it to your water heating system. If you want to heat your pool separately, you can opt for a pool heat pump or try electric pool heating.
